3 Reasons To Put OM Rising On Your Calendar This October!

By Deidre Norman

OM Rising is Northern California's Yoga + Music Gathering. The first gathering is happening October 5 - 8, 2018 in the redwoods of Mendocino County at Camp Navarro. This will be an unforgettable weekend of Nature, Music, Movement, and Spirituality with an incredible line up of presenters!

We asked the founders three reasons why we should attend and here is what they said:

To try the unexpected.

A new yoga + music festival is heading our way! The mastermind and co-founder of Yoga Tree studios in the Bay Area (Tim Dale) has been busy dreaming up OM Rising --- a new kind of gathering that promises to be quite unique, empowering and FUN. What could be better than yoga in the redwoods with some of California's most beloved teachers. There will be blindfold yoga with live music, opportunities to take your practice off the mat and roll around in the grass, Tai Chi, kombucha-making, astrology 101 and of course...stargazing at the new moon sky. The festival promises yoga, music and dance all throughout the day and late into the night.

Community.

The idea behind OM Rising came from Tim Dale's desire to connect our amazing yoga community from San Francisco to San Jose, to Oakland and all of the East Bay to the North Bay. We've got some pretty f*cking amazing teachers, musicians and artisans of all kinds around us. The roster to-date lists 25 teachers such as Mark Morford, Anne Marie Kramer, Katchie Ananda, Darren Main, Suzanne Sterling and so many more!  We will be creating a space to inspire and empower each other, embracing our vibrant community and finding purpose and power in a playful way! Plus there will be a kids camp so you can even bring the little ones. And, everyone will be invited to attend a farm to table dinner on Saturday night that is included in the ticket price. To give back, a portion of the ticket sales from this event will benefit last year's North Bay Fire Victims as well as the Prison Yoga Project.

Get away from the daily grind + connect with nature.

Have you heard of Camp Navarro? This idyllic spot is perfectly situated in the redwoods between world class wine country and the indelible Mendocino coast. It is about 2.5 hours north of San Francisco. The property sits on the meandering North Fork of the Navarro River. One of the many reasons why we love this festival is --- you can stay for whole weekend! Each ticket includes a campsite to pitch your tent, or you can always opt to upgrade your accommodations to one of the Cabins, Teepee Tents or an Adirondack. Of course, you can always get your friends to rent an RV. There will be food vendors, but no worries if you prefer to cook for yourself - campfires are allowed in designated areas. And the festival will practice mindful use of WiFi with NO WiFi hours at certain times during the weekend.

Tickets go live today at 9am, and you get them at: omrising.org. There is a limited number of $250 "early riser" tickets. After the first 100 tickets are sold the prices will rise, and this year's festival will be capped at 500 tickets.
