Lightning In A Bottle: Check Out The Incredible Yoga Offerings This Year!
By Courtney Alex Aldor
Who else is so excited for festival season? Can I say: me, me, me?
This year, Lightning in a Bottle is back with a strong line-up of yoga offerings, and we could not be more excited. It is all happening May 8 - 13th at Buena Vista Lake, Kern County, California. LIB is an annual conscious festival that includes Yoga, Live Music, Movement Classes, Art, Cooking Classes, Performances, Food Vendors and So Much More! One thing that makes LIB unique is their 6 Ways of LIBing. They are their community’s guiding principles and can be applied to all aspects of the LIB experience. They are simple, but when they are put into action they are powerful. It is a way to create magic together! They are Celebrate Life, Create Community, Respect Yourself + Respect One Another, Actively Participate, Honor The Land and Be A Citizen.
The yoga offerings at LIB are purposely varied to encompass all styles and levels of yoga from the traditional practices to the wildly unconventional and fun. We were thrilled to see SF based yoga teacher Peter Walters on the schedule, he focuses on joyous playful music-infused classes to work the body and soul. Then there is Cat Meyer, who will be bringing her personal blend of yoga, psychotherapy, EMDR, energy psychology and modern science. She will be sharing her methods of healing on multiple layers through a synergistic mat practice. We were thrilled to see Jai Dev Singh on the schedule, teacher and practitioner of Kundalini Yoga and Ayurvedic Medicine who will be sharing his wisdom. Also teaching is Michelle Bouvier, Kishan Shah, Andrew 7 Sealy, and many more.
The LIB offerings are so vast and varied - from slow meditative practices to playful acro gatherings, there will be something for everyone. With so many teachers, and so much training under their belts, I almost didn’t know what to write about. There are so many interesting workshops and talks, dance and movement classes, music, performance art, energy workshops, healing, spirituality and consciousness talks, Qigong, even practices this little writer-psychic has never even heard of… I can’t WAIT to explore.
And of course, the music line-up, is as strong as ever, with major bands like Rising Appalachia, Climbing Poetree, Masego, and even classic faves like CloZee, DJ Dragonfly and Santigold. There are so many musicians I am sure I can’t help but dance to. There is even a kids corner, cool nature close by…basically, this is a blend of everything we need to kick off festival season right. I’ll see you there!
