Bay Area Yoga Teacher Highlight: Jeremy Falk

Bay Area Yoga Teacher Highlight: Jeremy Falk

Name: Jeremy Falk.

Practice with me at: Yoga Tree, Yoga Works, and Love Story Yoga.

How long I’ve been practicing yoga: Over 16 years and forever a student.

How long I’ve been teaching yoga: 12+ years in embodied arts, 6+ years in yoga, E-RYT 500.

What kind of yoga I teach: A challenging alignment based Bhakti vinyasa that combines intentional sequencing, philosophy, humor, and heart. I encourage my students to stay connected to how the practice helps us show up in the world with more compassion, focus, resilience, patience, and whatever else they're working to cultivate.

My mantra these days: Feel Fully Alive! To me, it means to practice diving into the moments and the feelings without needing to change them. To give ourselves to rest as much as we give to effort, to stillness as much as motion, to feel into sadness as much as we celebrate ecstasy. We have one shot... FEEL IT!

An Asana, Kriya OR Meditation that has been resonating with me lately is: Ecstatic shaking in the morning! For more meditations I love to share, find my channel "Morning Meditations for Daily Magic" on Audible!

How I like to practice yoga off the mat: Keeping space between stimulus and response, choosing how I respond instead of react. Cultivating a willingness to lean into life, staying curious, and remaining open minded about what is possible and true.

My sign: Libra. Quick to find balance, slower to make decisions. Always seeking harmony and appreciating beauty.

Where I go for a nourishing meal: I'll just use this space to say, San Francisco, we could use a lot more healthy, organic, locally sourced, vegan and vegetarian friendly, environmentally conscious restaurants and juice bars! We are really lacking in a conscious food scene. We can do better!

What’s on your yoga playlist right now: You'll probably find Krishna Das, Fleetwood Mac, RITUAL, Cospe, Saint Sinner, The Weekend, Van Morrison, East Forest, and classical piano on one playlist. Find me on Spotify and listen for for yourself! All my playlist are public and pretty juicy, I think. :)

A few of my favorite yoga teachers are: Forever in gratitude to my devoted teachers Jason Crandell, Stephanie Snyder, Janet Stone, Shems Heartwell, and the Association for Yoga and Meditation in Rishikesh, India. And, the practice is always the favorite. Teachers are lighthouses, teachings are light. Seek the eternal light more than the temporary structures. Don't attach to any guru. They're human, perfectly imperfect, and temporary. Philosophy is immortal and all of the wisdom is already inside you.

A ritual I love: Playing my harmonium and singing my heart out to the divine in all of us!

What I am letting go of this year: Energetically limiting beliefs and playing small.

What I am embracing this year: Expansion, growth, leadership, empowerment!
